E. Christina Weider

E. Christina Weider age 99 passed away January 2, 2018 at the Laurel Crest Nursing Home in West Columbia, S. C. following a brief illness. She was born in Springfield, Ohio November 23, 1918 the daughter of Clarence and Altha (Chase) Noel. She was a 1936 graduate of Springfield High School and attended the Springfield Business College. She married Robert E. "Red" Weider in 1937 who preceded her in death in 2003. They were married almost 66 years.

She was employed by the Ohio Electric and Gas Company and by the Clark County business license department. She was member of Eastern Star. Following her retirement she became an avid collector of Blue Willow China and with her husband went to hundreds of garage sales and antique shops. She traveled in the United States and abroad to England and France, and then fulfilled a lifelong dream to visit Egypt. During her last years she particularly enjoyed beating all comers at dominoes and watching the birds and squirrels that frequented the bird feeder outside her window. She is survived by her children and spouses: Ruth Ann (Dr. Robert) Patterson of Columbia, SC; James N. (Ellen) Weider of Depoe Bay, Oregon; Thomas N. (Roseann) Weider of Sylvania Ohio; four grandchildren and spouses: Dr. Anne E. Patterson of Beirut, Lebanon; Robert B. Jr. (Denise) Patterson of Columbia, SC; James K. (Sarah) Weider of Portland, OR; and Barbara (Thomas Grant) Weider of Kanab, Utah; five great grandchildren, Duncan, Josiah and Ruth Gibbs Patterson, of Columbia, South Carolina; Maxwell and Jackson Weider, of Portland, OR; her sister, Kathleen Holl and her sister-in-law Maxine Murphy both of Springfield, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 12 at 12 Noon with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. at the RICHARDS RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME with Chaplain Bruce Vincent officiating.
