Duane L. Salyer

August 16, 1959 — April 13, 2021

Duane Lynn Salyer, 61, departed us to be with the Lord on April 13, 2021 after a short battle with cancer. That day, heaven truly gained a fine rhythm guitarist and vocalist. Throughout his life, Duane’s passions were his strong Christian faith and his deep love of music. Instilled upon them at an early age, Duane and his brothers and sister learned to play and appreciate music. Whether it was through guitar, percussion, or singing, the family were brought closer whenever they shared music together. Duane’s musical talents were both a Gift from God and a form of communion. To hear him play his guitar and sing with his family was balm to the soul. Besides his gift of music, Duane loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed fishing. He was also a great friend to many people. He ran errands for his friends in the apartment complex and would take them on outings whenever he could manage. They enjoyed fishing with him, and he included them as much as possible. They loved him and were there for him. Duane led a life of tribulation and struggle. Throughout his trials, his faith in Jesus buoyed him and was a great source of comfort. He is at peace with his Savior. He is survived by his daughter Jessica, granddaughter Savannah, son Jesse, brothers Dave, Darrell, and Darin, sister Donita, their spouses and partners, Aunts Rhonda and Betty, and many cousins. He is received in Heaven by all the loved ones who have gone before: Mom and Dad, son Joshua, maternal and paternal grandparents, brother Danny, sister Debbie, aunts, uncles, and cousins. A celebration of life is planned for June 19th, 2021. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers a donation to Ohio Hospice of Dayton or Saint Vincent De Paul Shelter. Arrangements have been entrusted to Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.trostelchapman.com.
