Ditty, Douglas D., 76 of Springfield passed away September 2, 2018 in his residence. He was born in Springfield, Ohio on March 13, 1942, the son of John and Hazel Ditty. He was a 1961 graduate of Springfield North. Doug was a retired firefighter with the Springfield Fire Department. After retiring he worked as an electrician. He was a member of the Eagles Aeries 397, Union Club and was a dancer with the Country Kickers. Doug was preceded in death by his son Tod and his wife Phyllis. Survivors include his wife Barbara; daughters Nikki (Kelly) Vertrees and Ginger Shaffer; brother John L. (M. Wanda) Ditty; sister Grace Irene (Richard) Alexander; daughter-in-law Stefanie Ditty; step children Tim (Leslie) Waugh, Terri (Al) Zak and Chip (Grace) Waugh; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; a close friend Phil Hemry. Services to honor Doug will be Friday at 1:00 PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME with Mike Criner officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of services at 1:00 PM. Fireman’s turn out to begin at 12:45 PM. Burial to follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial contributions are requested to the Hospice of the Miami Valley, 1948 N.
