Dorothy J. Kadel

KADEL, Dorothy Joyce, 92, of Springfield slipped peacefully into her heavenly home on December 9, 2018. She was born September 19, 1926. Dorothy worked at Wright AFB and as a Home Health Aid for Mercy Medical Center, prior to becoming a homemaker. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed tending to her many flower beds. Dorothy was a member of Hillside Avenue Church of God. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, George R.; her son, Stephen D.; her parents, Brackey and Rachel Speirs; sister June Hern; and step brothers Vernon Speirs and Byron Monteith. She is survived by her daughters, Wendy Darlene Kadel of Hollywood, Florida, and Kimberly Kay (Robert) Wooton of Urbana; grandsons, Kyle (Sarah) Wooton and Joshua (Chelsi) Wooton; two great grandchildren, Harper Violet and Bodey Hendrix; brother Donald (Judy) Speirs; sister Audrey (Wilmer) Hill, along with countless nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 – 11 AM. in Hillside Avenue Church of God. The service to honor Dorothy’s life will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM. in the church with Rev. Michael Criner officiating. Burial will follow in Vale Cemetery. The family is being served by RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Dorothy will always be remembered for her tireless efforts in helping those less fortunate and her countless donations to Christian Missions.
