With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dollie Katherine Brown, a remarkable woman whose strength, devotion, and love shaped the lives of all who knew her. Dollie Katherine Brown, 86, of New Carlisle, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2025.
Born on March 27, 1939, in Floyd County, Kentucky, Dollie was the daughter of the late Dennis and Ossie Reynolds. Her childhood in the holler of Mink Branch in Craynor/Mud Creek, surrounded by the rugged beauty of Kentucky’s mountains and a close-knit family, instilled in her the values of hard work and resilience. She was one of eight siblings, and from those early years, she developed the grit that defined her entire life.
Even in her 85th year, Dollie could be found push-mowing her lawn, a testament to her determination and independence that inspired everyone around her. Her beloved garden, an extension of who she was, was her sanctuary and source of pride. She poured her heart into every bloom and every inch of soil, sharing its beauty with others.
Above all else, Dollie cherished her family. She was a gifted cook, known for meals made entirely from scratch and often straight from the fruits of her garden. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, tradition, and love. Her faith was the guiding force of her life, evident in the way she cared for her family, her home, her garden, and all who needed a hand or a prayer.
Dollie's greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless delight. She also found peace in quilting, where each stitch and every quilt was a testament to her patience, creativity, and love.
Dollie's sharp wit, warm presence, and unforgettable home cooking will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience and devotion, living on through her family, her traditions, and the many lives she touched with her unwavering spirit.
Dollie owned and operated a restaurant in Conway, South Carolina, and lived in Astatula, Florida. She also worked at the BX at WPAFB and later served as a hostess at the Mel-O-Dee Restaurant.
Dollie is preceded in death by her brothers Thurman Reynolds and Carl Dean Reynolds. She is survived by her children Cynthia “Cindy” Evans and Tim (Lori) Brown; brothers Kenes Reynolds, Joe (Wanda) Reynolds, Arthur Reynolds and Ernest (Brenda) Reynolds; sisters Marlene Farris and Wanda Jean Gammel; grandchildren Shannon (Sean), Brent (Nicole), Melissa (Andrew), and Matthew; great-grandchildren Addy, Wyatt, Amelia, Monica, Oliver, and Riley; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., with the service to honor Dollie beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.trostelchapman.com.
May Dollie rest in eternal peace, cradled in the arms of the Lord she loved so deeply.
