Delores “Dee” Ann Berry, 90
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Delores “Dee” Ann Berry, a beloved lifelong member of the New Carlisle community. Delores passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23rd, 2025, at the age of 90, surrounded by her family—just two hours before her husband of 70 years, Bill, followed her home. Born on May 10th, 1935, in New Carlisle, Delores spent her entire life rooted in the town she cherished, giving her time, talents, and boundless warmth to the people around her. Delores was preceded in death by her son, Todd Berry, her parents, Edward and Elizabeth Cooper, sisters: Ruth (Joe) Barnhart, Velma (Andy) Kazer, and Norma (Stan) Larason. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Brenda (Michael) Fettinger and Pamela (Guy) West. She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren, Zebulen McNabb, Morgan McNabb, and Lauren Fettinger, along with her great-granddaughter, Vera Dee Frances McNabb, who carries her name and spirit forward. Additionally, she leaves behind several deeply loved nieces and nephews. Many other relatives and friends join her family in mourning the loss of a woman who meant so much to so many.
A dedicated worker and natural leader, Dee began her career as a typist at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. She later embraced the role she loved most—stay-at-home mother—pouring her heart into raising her children. When the time was right, she returned to serving the community, working at the New Carlisle YMCA, first in campaigning and as secretary, and later as Director, where she was instrumental in helping fundraise and open the YMCA recreation center.
She later was the Activities Director at the New Carlisle Senior Center, where she got to exercise her love of playing cards and organizing group events. Her commitment to service extended into her personal passions as well; Dee was on the board and volunteered for the Salvation Army, was a proud member of the Eastern Star, a joyful voice in the New Carlisle community chorus, and a long-time member of the New Carlisle Church of the Brethren. Dee spent much of her adult life participating in activities side by side with Bill. At home, Dee was a homemaker in the truest sense. She was known for her love of cooking and the nightly family dinners that became a treasured rhythm of life for those blessed enough to sit at her table. She had many cherished recipes, many passed down to her from her mother, and then shared with her granddaughters. She also took much pride in her home’s beautiful furnishings, handmade by her father. Her home radiated the quiet, steady comfort she offered so generously.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home in New Carlisle, OH, on Monday, December 1st, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
