David L. Hayes, Sr.

David L. Hayes, Sr., 80, of Springfield died Friday, August 17,2018 in his home following months of illness. He was born March 16, 1938 in Springfield the son of John and Kathleen (Cydrus) Hayes. David is preceded in death by his wife Della Jane Hayes. David served six years in the U.S. Army Reserve. He is survived by his three daughters Terri Ware of Sanford, Florida, Joyce LaVarnia and Michelle Hayes of Springfield; three sons and one daughter-in-law David L. Jr. and Tracy Hayes of Havlock, North Carolina, Timothy Hayes and Darrell Hayes of Springfield; four sisters Judy (Rick) Howard, JoAnn Geiger, Rosemary Hayes and Kathy Simonton; five brothers John (Judy), Danny (Paula), Charles (Judy) , Mike (Sue) , and Robert Hayes, all of Springfield; sixteen grandchildren Scott and Anna Ware, RJ Ware, Bailey, Jeremy, Christian, Kira, Nathan. Ashley, Bryant, Renee, James and Aleah Hayes (David Beach), Natalie and Rebecca Walker, and Adella Hayes; five great grandchildren Craig Sherrock, Zarian Hayes, Madison Ware, Adalyn and Dylan Beach; several nieces and nephews; special friends Bobby Nickles and Dave Jordan; David is also preceded in death by two sisters June Honicker and Karen Martin; one brother Roger Hayes; and a granddaughter Alyssa Walker. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 PM. in RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. The service to honor David’s life will be Thursday at 1:00 PM. in the Memorial Home with burial to follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
