Darlene Shiltz, affectionately remembered by family and friends for her warmth and kindness, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on July 3, 1936, in Greenup, Kentucky, she lived a life filled with love, faith, and joy. Darlene was a cherished resident of Troy, Ohio, and a dedicated member of True Life Community Church, where her faith and kindness radiated to all who knew her. A devoted bookkeeper by profession, Darlene contributed her meticulous skills to Kentner Sellers, bringing diligence and dedication to every task. Her love for life extended beyond her professional endeavors; she was a passionate puzzle enthusiast and an expert at Wheel of Fortune, bringing light-hearted joy to those who joined her. An avid reader, Darlene found immense joy in immersing herself in stories, but her greatest joy was derived from spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart. Darlene is survived by her loving daughters Paula (Mark Hand) Shiltz, Penny (Marty) Reed, and Pam (Dan) Hart. She was the proud grandmother of Jeremy (Rachel) Drake, Ben Drake, Jennifer (Jacob) Trimbach, Amanda (Josh) Majors, Chad Reed, Jessie (Ben) Johnson, Noah (Meggin) Walkup, and Zach (Lauren) Walkup. She also leaves behind 20 adored great-grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren nieces Beverly McKenzie and Brenda Jenkins, and great-nephews Jason Ortiz, Carlos Ortiz, Josh Swindell and Joe Swindell. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Sherman and Olive Cochenour, her husband Paul Shiltz, her infant daughter Teresa, and her sister and brother in law Vernice (Dwight) McKenzie, great nephew Jonathan Swindell. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation at True Life Community Church in Troy, Ohio, Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A celebration of Darlene’s life will follow at 12:00 pm with her grandson Noah Walkup officiating. Interment to follow in Miami Memorial Park. Darlene's memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of those who loved her and whose lives she touched with her gentle spirit and unwavering faith.
