Dale M. Thompson

Dale Maurice Thompson, 48, unexpectedly passed away Sunday morning, February 18, 2018, with his loving wife by his side, and is now in the arms of his Savior. Dale was born on November 27, 1969 in Springfield, Ohio to his father, Jay Garrison, who preceded him in death, and mother, Nadra Thompson. Along with his mother, Dale is survived by his wife and soulmate, Melissa "Missy" Thompson and children: Ashley (Zach) Payton, Alyssa (Tyler) Brickles, Andria Thompson, Brandon Ehlinger-Thompson, Arryana Thompson, Chloe Thompson, and Daelynn Thompson. Other survivors include his siblings: Greg (Karen) Thompson, Andra (Troy) Oden, Timothy Thompson, Forrest Thompson, Angela Thompson, and Darnella Thompson, and grandchildren: Bentley, Kyndahl, Breslyn, Isabella, Lydia, Levi, and Makai, along with many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Dale was a 1988 graduate of Springfield North High School and was a lifelong resident of Springfield. Dale, a former member of the United States Army, was a hard-working employee of the Shelly Company and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 18. After a career of paving Ohio’s highways, we can only guess he is now paving the streets of gold in Heaven. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, who selflessly lived for his family, Dale along with his wife, Missy, were nearing the completion of restoring their forever home, an old farmhouse, in Moorefield Township. Dale had a huge heart, a calm demeanor, and the best smile and laugh imaginable. His main source of enjoyment was spending time with his family, which often included attending his kids’ sporting events and other programs. He wanted nothing more than to see his family safe, healthy, and successful. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 24 at 12:00pm at Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home, 838 E. High St. in Springfield. Burial will be immediately following at Ferncliff Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday, February 23 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and again on Saturday from 11:00am to 12:00pm.
