Clyde E. Farris

Clyde E. Farris, of New Carlisle, age 87, passed away January 5, 2018. Clyde is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Retha Pearl, his daughters Brenda Young and Beverly Corns, as well as his mother, Edna Weddle. He is survived by his daughter Regina Doughman; four grandchildren, Melissa Hull, Jamison Wilson, Bradley Hodge, and Samuel Wells; six great grandchildren, Jesse Hull, Savannah Wilson, Taylor Hodge, Nicholas Wilson, Dalton Hodge, and Jennica Hodge; and a brother, Harold Kiser. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired after 33 years from the heating plant at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Clyde enjoyed fishing about as much as he did breathing, as well as woodworking in the shop he built after retirement where he made everything from wooden tulips to large pieces of furniture.He and his wife had impressive gardens, complete with fruit trees and grapevines. He was never idle and would most likely find something to fix when he visited your home.But more than anything, he loved his family and adored his grandchildren, who will forever cherish their memories of countless rides on the riding lawn mower, fishing, shooting the BB Gun into the coffee can, and many trips to Kentucky, his home state, where he left his heart. His integrity and hard work is his legacy and the example he leaves. He will be dearly missed. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 9th, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio.
