Chase Daniel Ater, age 27, of New Carlisle, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 14, 2025. Born on April 21, 1998, in Springfield, Ohio, Chase was the beloved son of Casey Ater and Joy Hall.
After graduating Tecumseh High School in the class of 2016, he worked alongside his father in the construction industry as a carpenter. He was skilled, smart, and able to do anything he put his mind to.
He was a talented gamer, fisherman, enjoyed shooting pool, and spending time with friends and family. He loved animals, especially his cat Dexter. Chase will be remembered for his kindness and for always offering a helping hand.
Chase is survived by his loving parents, Joy (Kevin) Hall and Casey (Crystal Eardly) Ater; his sisters, Megan (Andrew) Murphy and Jenna Hall; and his grandmothers, Doris Ruef and Barbara Glasspoole. He also leaves behind his uncle, Tim Ater, and Hazel and Violet Eardly. Chase was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Ruef and Richard Glasspoole. He left behind a community of close friends (best friends Timmy and Dylan) and fellow gamers.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home in New Carlisle, Ohio. A time of sharing and remembrance will follow at 6:00 pm, where stories and memories of Chase's life will be celebrated. Immediately following the service, the family would like to extend an invitation to join them at the New Carlisle Heritage Hall (Smith Park) for a meal and fellowship.
