Charles Norman Espich, 82, of Springfield passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2020. He was born January 10, 1938 in Springfield the son of Gayle Norman and Juanita (Harper) Espich. Charles retired at the age of 49, from International Harvester with 31 years of service. He then worked for Speedway, retiring again after 10 years. Charles was very active in Free Masonry, as a Past Master of St. Andrews Lodge #619 F & AM; Past District Deputy, K.Y.C.H., Knight of the Purple Cross and Red Cross of Constantine. He was also a member and Past Chancellor Commander of Red Star Lodge #205, Knights of Pythias, and he was an avid golfer, mostly at Locust Hills. Charles is survived by his wife of 61 years Nancy M. (Lee) Espich; sons Steven (Robin) Espich and David E. Espich; brothers Philip (Liz) Espich and Paul (Sharon) Espich, all of Springfield; grandchildren Robin Sue Espich and Robert Allen (Jennifer) Espich; great granddaughter Alli Mae Sue Haynes; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and a son Paul Douglas Espich in 1969. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 – 5 PM. in RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. St. Andrews Lodge will hold Masonic services Sunday at 4:30 PM immediately followed by Red Star Lodge with Pythian services. The service to honor Charles’s life will be Monday at 1:00 PM. in the Memorial with Brian Borton officiating. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.
