Carolyn Marie (Dinsmore) Rogers, age 80, passed away on July 31, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy woven with warmth, kindness and unconditional love. Carolyn was a devoted mother, and “Gramma” to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
Born on September 6, 1945, in Tipp City, Ohio, she was the eldest daughter of the late David and Patty (Shroyer) Dinsmore. Carolyn grew up in Ohio, graduating from Bethel High School in 1963, where she was an active 4-H member, cheerleader, basketball player, and member of the Harmonettes – an all-female singing group. She attended Manchester College in Indiana graduating with a bachelor's degree in education. While there, she was crowned May Queen during the university’s annual celebration of May Day.
As a dedicated elementary school teacher in Indiana, Carolyn found her life’s calling, shaping young minds in the Hamilton Southeastern School System for decades until her retirement. She took great pride in creating and directing original student theatrical productions that celebrated Indiana’s state history. Outside the classroom, she was a creative, adventurous soul who loved traveling and scrapbooking family vacations. She doted on her pets, Smirnoff and Abby.
Carolyn’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her two loving sons: Matt (Stephanie) Rogers of Jeffersonville, IN, and Andy (Katie) Rogers of Fishers, IN. She was a caring sister to Janet (Bill) Corbin, David (Sharon) Dinsmore, and Barbara (Terry) Finchum. Her deep love multiplied across generations to include six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Known for her kind heart, she was an anchor for her family.
