Bryan Dean Hitchcock, aged 64, of New Carlisle, Ohio, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, surrounded by the love and care of his cherished children. Born in Troy, Ohio, Bryan led a remarkable life marked by dedication, service, and love.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Bryan served his country with honor and distinction. Following his military service, he enjoyed a fulfilling career with General Motors before retiring. Known for his diverse interests and passions, Bryan relished spending time with his family, pursuing hobbies such as fishing, knife collecting, reading history, astronomy, and woodworking. He enjoyed listening to classic rock and delighted in watching movies while enjoying his popcorn, and had a knack for trivia game shows, especially Jeopardy.
Bryan is preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Doyle and Mary Hitchcock, mother Gladys “Lenore” Diffee, sisters Leslie VanHoose and Valerie Elliott, and his son, Bryan Hitchcock, Jr. He leaves behind a loving family, including his children Britney Johnson, Brandon (and wife Taylor) Hitchcock, and Brooks Hitchcock, as well as his treasured grandchildren, Sully and Ellie. He is also survived by his brothers Wesley Hitchcock and Walter Diffee, sister Regina Hitchcock, nephew Ryan Hitchcock, and numerous extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
To honor his life, a Celebration of Bryan’s life will take place on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 2 to 4 PM at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar, and Fraley Funeral Home. In recognition of Bryan’s generous spirit, his family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Dayton or the Wounded Warrior Project.
