Brenda Irene Vogt

October 22, 1951 — January 18, 2020

Brenda Irene Vogt (Sumner) 68 of Springfield, VA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Wichita Falls, TX to the late Ronald and Lois Sumner, New Carlisle, OH. Having grown up as an "Air Force Brat" she spent her childhood traveling all over, but loved spending time in Gulfport, MS with her Big Granny. She also enjoyed spending time with her Aunt Leota who welcomed her every time with her favorite to this day, a lemon meringue pie. Brenda ultimately graduated from Tecumseh High School (69) in New Carlisle, OH. As an adult, she spent many years teaching preschool in the Chicago suburbs for Mother’s Day Out and loved all the children like her own. Some of her hobbies included watercolor painting, crafts and being a Girl Scout Leader. She was an an amazing baker making creative cakes for those she loved. For many years she would have a cookie baking day at Christmas time with her dear friends. She loved going to the beach, feeling the sun hit her face and the sand between her toes. She loved spending time with her family, especially the ones who call her Nana. Her heart was so big she welcomed everyone as her family and loved them like her own.

She is survived by her husband, Martin Vogt of Springfield, VA. Daughters Sheri of Piqua, OH; Sarah of Alexandria, VA and Rebecca (Alex) of Springfield, VA. Son, Paul (Tamara) of Naples, FL. Grandchildren Nathanael, Hannah, Reonnah, Aliviah and Aliyah. She is also survived by her brother Ronald Sumner, many nieces and nephews (who she loved dearly), several cousins and a great grandbaby on the way.

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents Ronald and Lois (Stiglets) Sumner, granddaughter Klaira Louise Peterman. Brothers in-law George and Thomas Vogt, sisters in -law Judith Brescia and Carol Sumner, along with several Aunts and Uncles. Her welcoming committee is something we can only imagine; so much love was waiting for her.

A celebration of life will take place on January 24, 2020 at Trostel Chapman Dunbar and Fraley (New Carlisle) with burial at Glen Haven Cemetery (New Carlisle). A lunch will follow the burial at The Secret Garden at Weber Estates.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support through this difficult time. Mom has touched many lives and she has been blessed to have all of you in her life.
