Bernice L. Shank, 91, of Springfield went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 2, 2018. Bernice was born on September 22, 1926 in Springfield, OH to Irvin and Alma (Tarlton) Pyles. Bernice was the beloved wife of Gerald Shank and the loving mother to sons, Mark (Connie) Shank, Craig (Debbie) Shank and daughter Sandy (Mick) Lecocq. Bernice is survived by her children; ten grandchildren, Lisa (Phil) Batz, Jennifer (Mark )Miesse, Jake (Laura) Funk, Dave (Laura) Lecocq, Eric (Amy) Shank, Todd Shank, Ryan (Shannon) Abbott, Rob (Jessica) Abbott, Jodi (Pat) Sweeney and Nathaniel Shank; great grandchildren, Jami, Gabbie, Jack, Lily, Caleb, Luke, Eli, Zack, Jessica, Elizabeth, Megan, Tyler, Mason, Teagan, Griffin, Liam, Collins, Lane and Evelyn; three special grandchildren, Reba, Kjersten and Tyler; sisters in law Rachael Simpson and Evelyn Pyles; many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Gerald Shank; her parents; sister, Vivian Sothard; brothers, Maynard Pyles and Wallace Sothard. Bernice was a lifetime member of the Hillside Church of God. She was a dedicated volunteer for 36 years at Community Hospital/Springfield Regional Medical Center. Bernice enjoyed traveling out west for many years and leaves behind a host of friends there. She loved walking at the mall for many years with her sister, Vivian and her Mall family and friends. Bernice's love of Jesus, her precious family and friends, and her sense of humor will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank Forest Glen and Kindred Hospice who treated our Mom and Grandma like she was their very own. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 – 5 PM. in RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:00AM. at Hillside Avenue Church of God with Rev. Larry Cook presiding. Burial will follow in Enon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Bernice’s name to the Springfield Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.
