Benita Joanne Cannane

Daughter of the late Henry and Barbara (Byrer) Wengerd, was born on September 20, 1957 in Canton, OH. She passed away in Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton on November 2, 2018 from her prolonged fight with Ovarian Cancer. Benita's greatest enjoyment in life was her family and making memories with them. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher; selflessly homeschooling her grandchildren until 7 days prior to her death. She is preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, Dr. Raymond J. Cannane; and sister, Regina. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, David; her 3 children, Jennifer Jones, Brenda, and Michael; her 7 grandchildren, Raymond, Nicholas, Matthew, Gabriel, Elizabeth, Bridget, and Bernadette Jones; her mother-in-law, Virginia Cannane; her siblings, Mary Ann Crist and Thomas Wengerd; and her many friends. To honor Benita’s love for beautiful things, the family is planting a memorial garden. All plants and flowers should be sent to the funeral home. The viewing will be held Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 4pm-7pm at TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, OH. A Catholic Requiem Mass will be said at Our Lady of Good Counsel on 8616 North Dixie Dr., Dayton, OH on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 9:30 am. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery on W. Home Rd in Springfield.
