Andrew Marshall Kohler

Andrew Marshall "Andy" Kohler, age 59, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at his home in New Albany on Sunday, June 21, 2026. 

Born on September 24, 1966, he was the son of Douglas Kohler and Marsha Studebaker. Andy graduated from Bexley High School in 1985, where he enjoyed playing soccer and performing in the school band. His lifelong love of music led him to countless concerts with friends, who still share stories of their adventures together.

As a teenager, Andy discovered a passion for cooking. This interest led him to the New England Culinary Institute, where he studied fine dining. After graduation, his culinary career took him to the Pebble Beach Golf Club and to the ski lodges of Sun Valley, Idaho, where he perfectly combined his love of skiing with his profession. 

In the 1990s, Andy returned to the Columbus area, where he continued to cook and pursue his musical talents. He generously shared his skills by cooking for family and friends, and he loved exploring local farmers’ markets to taste new foods. He remained deeply devoted to music, playing the guitar and keyboard, and continued taking lessons to hone his craft.

Andrew is survived by:

• Mother: Marsha Studebaker and her husband, Terry Swango.

• Father: Douglas Kohler and his wife, Rosemary. Step-brothers: John Buckley, Christian Buckley, Matthew Buckley, and Michael Buckley-Kohler.

• Brother: Matt Kohler and his wife, Regina, and their daughters Kathryn and Alyssa.

• Sister: Jeanne Foglesong and her husband, Shane, and their children, Hope and Alexander.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 am on August 1st at the Studebaker Cemetery, located at 5700 Studebaker Rd. Tipp City, Ohio 45371. Following the service, a celebration of Andy's life will continue at 1:00 pm at the Robert and Jeanne Studebaker family home, located at 5343 Kellenburger Road in Huber Heights, Ohio. Family and friends are warmly invited to share memories, stories, photos, and a meal at the farm where Andy spent many happy hours throughout his life.
