Alma Florence Adams, 98, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020. She was born January 4, 1922 in Hazard, KY, the daughter of the late Jesse and Lucy (Brewer) Fugate. Florence was a proud coal miner’s daughter. She loved her family and her biggest joy was watching them grow and start families of their own. Florence was her grandkids’ biggest fan. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband James P. Adams; brother Saul Fugate; sisters Dora Campbell, Paralee Grigsby, Geneva Robbins, Juanita Keeton, Verta Creech and Sally Hadley; and daughter-in-law Karen Adams. Florence is survived by her children James Adams, Ronald (Linda) Adams, Mary Ellen (Gary) Kopp and John Adams; brothers Carl (Patty) Fugate and Donald (Betty) Fugate; brother-in-law Lindell Keeton; sister-in-law Judy Fugate; grandchildren Alan Adams, Tracy (Eric) Mader, Andrew (Courtney) Adams, Ed (Amanda) Adams, Amy (Allen) Justice, Candace (Greg) Mize, Amanda (Jay) Crowe, Gary (Alisha) Kopp, Lisa (Troy) Callahan, Leigh Anne Lawrence and Jen Jenkins; twenty-five great-grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. The funeral service to honor Florence will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM at Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home. Burial will follow in Byron Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greenon Band Boosters Association and George Rogers Clark Memorial VFW post 8437, Fireworks Fund www.VFW8437.org.
