Alfred L. Wilcoxen, 77, of Springfield passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 in Miami Valley Hospital. He was born June 15, 1939 in Canton, IL the son of Dalton A. and Bessie (DeMoss) Wilcoxen. Alfred worked for Navistar-International in Canton for twenty-five years, then transferred to the Springfield Plant, retiring with forty years of service. Alfred was a hardworking man who always had a second job. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed fishing and turtle hunting, and volunteered at St. John’s Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years Shirley A. (Bull) Wilcoxen; children Kimberly (Bret) Austin of Galesburg, IL, Lauri Fleming (Reggie Ohlinger), Alfy (Amy) Wilcoxen and Martha Wilcoxen; granddaughter whom they adopted Kelsie Wilcoxen, all of Springfield; brothers Doug Wilcoxen and Dwayne (Mary) Wilcoxen, both of Havana, IL; sister Barb (George) Farquer of Knoxville, IL; nine grandchildren Jaimie Jo, Cody, Keith, Jesse, Travis, Trevor, Kelsie, Tayla and Lance; nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin daughters and son-in-law Kirk Fleming. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. The service to honor Alfred’s life will be Thursday at 1:00 PM. in the Memorial Home with Pastor John Pollock officiating. Burial to follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.
