On January 4, 2018, while a patient at Soin Medical Center, Beavercreek Ohio, George T. Hooten, 79, peacefully passed away, after months of declining health and recent illness. George was the son of Enoch and Alma (Hurst) Hooten, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jan (Eaves), daughter, Sherrie Culbertson (Jeff), sons, Todd Hooten, and Tim Hooten (Irma). George also leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Bryan Hooten (Christy), Zach Tackett, Kayleigh Hooten, Jasmine Salazar, Brent and Matt Culbertson; and great grandchildren, Kinsley, Cassidy, Wyatt and Grant, as well as long-time friend, Larry (Butch) Delawder and many other loving relatives and friends. George was retired from Dallas Mavis and Robbins & Meyer's, and belonged to local UAW and Teamsters unions, the Union Club, and Masonic Kissell Lodge 674. Known for his quick wit and keen sense of humor, George enjoyed fishing, playing cards, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his parents, George was also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Charlotte Elaine, sister Marlene Whited and brother James (Howard) Hooten. Visitation with the family will be held at the Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home, 838 East High St., Springfield, Monday, January 8, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service officiated by Pastor Bob Jencks, at 1:00 p.m. Masonic memorial services will begin at 1:00PM with services to honor George to follow.
