Esther Mae (Barnhart) Lavy
the fourth of six daughters born to Joel and Seville (Grisso) Barnhart, was born Dec. 11, 1923 in Miami County, Ohio. She died on January 31, 2018 at the age of 94. She married Dallas Rutherford Lavy, son of Wesley and Esther (Bowman) Lavy, on January 1, 1942. They both received Christian baptism on November 8, 1945. Esther was actively involved on the family farm for many years, caring for their livestock and helping with the field work. She loved people and was always eager to express her love. Esther was a faithful supporter of her husband when he was called to the deacon’s responsibilities on April 12, 1952, and also when he was given the responsibility of preaching the Gospel on January 2, 1954. Dal and Esther enjoyed 67 years of marriage together until his death on May 5, 2009. They felt blessed to enjoy a wide circle of friends both at home and on their many travels. She is survived by her 3 children-Gary and Sharon (Boone) Lavy, Eric and Shirley (Lavy) Rich, Martin and Carolyn (Lavy-Rohling) Blocher, 12 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Donald Rohling. During her sunset years, Esther was treasured by her Maple Grove church congregation for her continuing fervency in prayer for each family. Although we now have the final date to engrave on our parent’s tombstone, we feel they are enjoying an eternal existence with Jesus Christ. Dal and Esther’s children.
